Twin Sector Update 1
RELEASE DATE : 27-09-2009 PROTECTION : Steam
GAME TYPE : Shooter DISKS : CRACKED UPDATE
Release Notes:
Time for a little change.
Time for a return to roots of the scene.
Time for blending nostalgia with the present.
Skid Row proudly present our conception of integrating a crack
intro with a cracked exe.
This is how it works:
After you copy the cracked content over, like you normally do,
and launch the game like you normally do, then you will be
presented with a little menu screen.
This screen has 2 options:
1. Launch Game!
2. View Intro!
Option number 1: will launch game like a standard cracked exe.
Option number 2: will launch our crack intro and upon exiting,
the game start will start normally.
This is our solution, on how we wanted to integrate a cracktro
with the cracked game content. We could have made it without
the menu screen, by starting the cracktro directly and then on
exit, then game would start. That method will not work today.
Because of so many different PC configurations and Windows
versions, which could for more or less unknown reasons cause
problems running our cracktro. We didn't wanted our cracktro
to be a problem on launching the game EXE. The best solution
is to give sceners those 2 choices above. Our solution will
not alter the command line functions of the original game EXE,
if such commands are present in the original version.
This is how the future of our cracks will look like. This is
not meant to make the launch of future game titles more
annoying. - this is done to bring back some scene spirit into
the scene. A spirit which goes back to the origins of the
scene, where independent pioneer sceners started to embed
their nicknames into the games. They simply did this to show
others what they accomplished. It soon became more and more
advanced, as these independent people teamed up in groups, to
build and attach their own programmed introduction screens
inside the games. Thus, crack intros were born and since then
have been a major part of the scene. Sadly, in the last couple
of years this trend has fallen and cracktros became a niche
thing.
Our best wish is to revert this rather bitter tendency and
encourage other groups to bring back this great, great
tradition of the scene to it's formal glory.
Concluding, we want to show others, that a pre with just an
ordinary NFO file and group tag of the release directory
totally misses the true point of what scene can and what
scene should be. Our launch menu conception, intermixes the
best aspects of two worlds - a homage to tradition while
maintaining a complete compatibility & versatility of a
typical cracked EXE.
We want to stress out, that we took the liberty to include
one of the best Commodore 64 intros, which have been
converted to Win32 platforms and customized to fit our needs.
Of course, it have been kept as true as possible to the
original.
Special greetings to The Papillions Incorporated for the
