Based on the true story of a six year-old
boy who was set on fire by his abusive father,
and the love between him and his mother during
his agonizing recovery.
-+ Rip Notes +-
This TV movie tearjerker aired on ABC back
in 1988 just a couple years after the incident
it is based on. David's father Charles ended
up serving less than 7 of his 13 year maximum
sentence. Outrage over this helped to pave
the way for stricter sentencing guidelines
in the future. When he was paroled in 1990,
David declared he never wanted to see his
father again but by 1996 he was determined
to confront him as a means to closing that
chapter of his life. It is not known whether
that meeting ever took place but in 2002
Charles was again on trial for arson stemming
from an incident involving credit card fraud
and the burning down of a neighbor's apartment.
In 2007 he was in the news yet again after
being prosecuted for a 3rd strike felony,
illegal firearm possession, with a sentence
of 25 to life behind bars. As for David? He
goes by Dave Dave now and you can even follow
him on myspace.com/daevdaev. All things
considered he seems to have made peace with
his tragic past.
So grab a box of tissues and enjoy this
touching retelling of the David Rothenburg
story starring young Matthew Lawrence (Boy
Meets World) and the talented TV veterans
Bernadette Peters and Dan Lauria (The Wonder
Years).
Enjoy!

available via Amazon's video on demand
service if you can live with paying for
a copy with DRM that restricts use and
has few ideal workarounds.
-+ Who We Are +-
Since 2003, FLAiR has been dedicated to pres-
erving the neglected titles of an entertainment
era long gone. A time of classic kids flicks,
painstaking hand-drawn animation and countless
cheesy low-budget horrors. A time when pop had
a King, and rock had a Queen. A time when special
FX wizards ruled, and CGI was just one of their
many tools.
Driven by nostalgia and memories of better
days, we seek to relive those times, and share
those memories. While our belief is that the
80s represent the very pinnacle of pop culture,
we will not limit ourselves to one decade, or
any single genre. We will not ignore the movies
considered insignificant or even embarrassing by
the studios. We will not disregard a timepiece
just because it is dated.
Whereas most groups rely solely on digital
sources, there are still thousands of rare and
out of print titles, many of which have no
planned digital release. We've made it our
mission to dig these out, clean them up using
the best hardware and techniques available to
us, and share them with the world. Be it VHS,
Laserdisc or more exotic formats, we're here
to bring you the best (and worst!) of decades
past. So sit back and enjoy as we uncover and
pay tribute to an age of cinema we will never
get back.
