New York, 1966. Linda Keith, wohl situierte Bürgertochter und Muse von Keith Richards, ist eine der wenigen Gäste im Cheethah Club, in dem Curtis Knight and the Squires spielen. Der Gitarrist, ein junger Mann namens Jimi Hendrix, erregt ihr Interesse. Sie lässt ihre Kontakte spielen und lädt Ex-Animal-Bassist Chas Chandler zu einem der Gigs ein. Er ist augenblicklich von Hendrix überzeugt und spendiert ihm ein Ticket ins Rock'n'Pop-Mekka London. Bald darauf verhilft er dem Ausnahmemusiker zu einem Auftritt auf dem Monterey Pop Festival.
