Beschreibung
Als eine norwegische Forschungsgruppe bei einer ihrer Expeditionen in der Antarktis auf ein au erirdisches Raumschiff stt und eine scheinbar leblose Kreatur darin entdeckt, l sst die Pal ontologin Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) nicht lange auf sich warten. Zusammen mit ihren Assistenten Davida Morris (Davetta Sherwood) und Adam Goodman (Eric Christian Olsen) m chte Kate die au erirdische Lebensform n her unter die Lupe nehmen. Bei einem Experiment, in dem das Wesen aus seiner Eish lle befreit wird, kommt es zum unerwarteten Erwachen, das zahlreiche Opfer zur Folge hat. Die junge Forscherin und ihre Assistenten schlie en sich dem Hubschrauberpiloten Sam Carter (Joel Edgerton) an, um dem Parasiten, der jede Lebensform nachahmen kann, die er ber hrt, zu entfliehen. Gemeinsam m ssen sie einen Plan entwickeln, wie sie die zerst rungsw tige Kreatur stoppen k nnen, bevor es die Zivilisation erreicht. Doch k nnen sie einander noch trauen?
