Plot
In Zukunft ist die Ordnung zerfallen und die Polizei liefert sich mit den Banden wilde Rennen auf
  den Highways. Einer der wenigen aufrechten Gesetzeshⁿter namens Max (Mel Gibson) will, nachdem er
  bei einer Verfolgungsjagd seinen besten Freund und Kollegen verloren hat, aussteigen und den Dienst
  quittieren. Er zieht mit seiner Familie durchs Land, bis sie auf den sadistischen Toecutter (Hugh
