Während ihrer Tätigkeit als Operator der Notrufnummer 911 passiert Jordan Turner (H. Berry) ein tragischer Fehler der dazu führt, dass ein Mädchen während eines Notrufs durch einen Einbrecher ermordet wird. Auch mehrere Monate nach diesem Vorfall hat Jordan diese Erfahrung noch nicht verarbeitet. Doch als sie den Anruf der jungen Casey (A. Breslin) erhält, die von einem Unbekannten entführt wurde und nun in dessen Kofferraum gefangen gehalten wird, wird sie erneut mit einem brisanten Fall konfrontiert. Jeglicher Hilfeversuch Jordans schlägt jedoch fehl, und auch ihren Kollegen gelingt es nicht, den Wagen ausfindig zu machen. Noch so einen Vorfall will die junge Frau jedoch nicht auf ihrem Gewissen haben, weshalb sie ihren Arbeitsplatz verlässt, und auf eigene Faust das Mädchen retten will
